Why everybody should have a "for sale" board

May 22, 2019

Lots of people don’t want to have a “for sale” board outside their property. And they sometimes have justifiable reasons – “it’s a security risk”; “I don’t want my neighbours to know”; “I don’t want people to knock on the door”; or “I’m embarrassed by how it looks”.

None of these points outweigh the merits of having a board outside your property when you’re trying to sell.

Some of the many benefits of “for sale” boards include:

- Driving traffic to the Internet to find out more;

- Attracting passing trade – most potential buyers still visit an area before committing to formal viewings;

- Attracting local trade – gossip between friends and families is a great way of finding potential buyers;

- Making it easier to find a property – potential buyers are more likely to arrive in a good mood if the property is clearly signposted.

Some reports have found that up to 50% of enquiries originate from a “for sale” board and, in more difficult markets, that’s a statistic that you just can’t afford to ignore.
