Why don’t you set your own completion date?

Jul 24, 2023

We’ve blogged a lot about auctions recently and, before we move on, there’s one more thing that we should mention. It’s a common concern for people of all ages – the idea of having to move quickly.

What sort of home mover are you?

Are you packed and ready to go as soon as you find a new property? Or do you need a little more time to get everything organised?

A big misconception about auctions is that you need to move within 28 days. That’s just not true.

Set a completion date to suit you.

So how long is it really between exchange and completion? While for some people, a speedy completion can be a godsend, it’s also perfectly normal for the seller and buyer to agree a later completion date – up to six months after exchange. In fact, one of the major benefits of auction is that the completion date is set directly by the people who own, and will own, the property – not by their solicitors.

Add that to greater control and greater security and you should be starting to understand why we think modern auctions can be a great selling option for almost any property!
